2023 Fall "Sidney's Rainbow Runners"

Mary Beth Ellis | Published on 11/26/2023

Fall means two things: pumpkin spice and cross country! The Sidney’s Rainbows runners had another amazing season building on their success from last summer. For the fall, the Rainbow runners moved to the SHED children's campus in Andover and enjoyed a taste of cross country using the natural environment to set out courses on grass including hills, rocks and other obstacles.

We had 24 kids participate this fall ranging from ages 5 to 11. The kids all brought energy and fun to every session. The program’s aim is to keep the kids moving, having fun, and running with a big smile. Some of the favorites with the runners were the xtreme xc routes through the woods navigating rocks and logs, scavenger hunt races, running relays, active games, obstacles courses and the timed mile race. The goal of every session of Sidney’s Rainbow Runners is to ignite a lifelong love of running and the outdoors in elementary school age children. And of course, turn all these young runners and their families into current and future MVSers!

A huge thank you to MVS, our partner in the Sidney’s Rainbow Runners program, for supporting us and helping to spread the joy of running throughout the community!

Sidney’s Rainbow Runners will be back in 2024 in the spring, summer, and fall! Please tell all your friends with elementary school age kids, 5-11, we’d love to have them run with us!
